Sarah and Chelsea
After a year of obedience work, we began training for agility. I have two great instructors that have helped us advance fairly quickly in agility. After only an eight week course, and on my 8th birthday weekend, we received our first two legs in Novice Jumpers with Weaves. When I turned nine I showed in my first AKC Obedience trails and qualified each time we entered. We earned our CD title and tied for High in Trail with a score of 198 ½. We also received our first leg in Rally that same weekend! We are currently working toward our Open obedience title. Chelsea and I continue to train in agility and we have our Novice Standard title. We are working on our open title. In Jumpers with Weaves we have the Novice and Open titles and we are working toward our Excellent A title. I also show rough collies for a friend of mine in conformation. Showing dogs has given me great opportunities to meet a lot of new friends. Most people are very kind and are very willing to give us pointers along the way. I wish more kids my age were involved with their dogs in this way. |

My name is Sarah VenHuizen and I am ten years old. This is my Sheltie and teammate Chelsea who is four years old. I received Chelsea as a Christmas present when I was six years hold. With the help of a 4-H instructor and my older sister Kayla, we began training for obedience that January and continued to train weekly for one year.
