Posting for AKC COO Position

Due to the upcoming retirement of the incumbent, a search has been launched for a Chief Operating Officer for the American Kennel Club.

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina and reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the COO will oversee an organization of approximately 240 employees. The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial business executive with 10 or more years documented leadership experience in a corporate environment. She / he will have had multi-million dollar budgetary responsibility managing a team of at least 100 people in an operational setting. Required skills include a solid understanding of processes and IT, as well as the ability to apply sound management principles in a diverse environment. Outstanding people skills, the ability to integrate multiple departments and the analytical ability to identify actionable opportunities a must.

In-depth knowledge of and experience in the sport of purebred dogs in such capacities as Delegate, judge, exhibitor, or other active participant is a huge plus.
