Performance Events Policies

Companion and Performance Event Status for the Foundation Stock Service (FSS) Breeds (February 2007 Board meeting) +
Effective immediately, FSS Breeds meeting the following criteria may compete in AKC Companion and Performance Events:
- National Breed Club has been established
- Breed has been established in the AKC/FSS® system
- Breed Standard exists
ILP's (May 1989 Board meeting) +

ILP applications for dogs of registrable breeds will only be considered for approval if the dog has been neutered.
Schutzhund (July 2003 Board meeting) +

Any club, which is eligible to hold AKC events, may conduct Schutzhund-like or Working Sport activities only with the advance written permission of The American Kennel Club. Failure to comply with this policy may result in the revocation of a club’s event-giving privileges.

Special Attractions consisting of demonstrations by uniformed police or military units where dogs are demonstrating the skills necessary for law enforcement and/or homeland defense may be conducted at AKC events with the advance written permission of The American Kennel Club.
