Legislative Leaders in New England continue various steps to mitigate the outbreak of COVID-19.  On Tuesday, March 17, the Maine Legislature adjourned after sending Governor Janet Mills an emergency bill to help facilitate the state’s response to the coronavirus.  Governor Mills signed that measure into law yesterday.  Among its many provisions, Public Law Chapter 617 provides that a dog license that expires during the COVID-19 state of emergency, as declared by the Governor, is extended until 30 days following the termination of the state of emergency.

AKC Government Relations (AKC GR) continues to track and address dog-related government activities and will provide additional information as developments warrant.  Click here to view the latest federal and state legislative calendar updates.  For more information, contact AKC GR at doglaw@akc.org.
