AKC Patch Program

AKC Patch Program

The AKC Patch Program aims to introduce a new generation of young people to purebred dogs and dog sports through a fun, interactive program held at dog shows and events.

The AKC Patch Program is open to Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and all youth ages 3-18 who attend the event.

Clubs interested in hosting the Patch program at their next event should review the FAQs below and apply via the JotForm link.

  • FAQ +

    • Who can host the Patch Program?

Any AKC-licensed or member club can host the Patch Program at an upcoming event.

    • At what type of events can the Patch Program be hosted?

The Patch Program can be hosted at a Conformation dog show, any sporting event, or specialty show, as long as there are more than three areas of attraction. For example, a grooming area, CGC testing, agility, etc., so there is enough going on for participants to observe and answer questions about on their scavenger hunt.

    • Are there any costs associated with hosting the Patch Program?

The club will need to cover the cost of printing the document for each participant (approx. 4 pages x $0.32 per B&W page on average = $1.28 per document).

The club can also choose to provide the Patch Program Patch for each participant who completes the scavenger hunt ($1.00 per patch).

    • What does AKC Public Education provide?

Our team will provide the following:

      • Flyer with program details for presentation to the club officials and the show chair for approval
      • Email templates for reaching out to local organizations and families to invite them to the show
      • Custom flyers to advertise the program
      • A custom-made Patch Program scavenger hunt tailored to the main attractions of the event, differentiated by age group
