The Albany County Legislature has tabled two bills impacting dog ownership following a public hearing last week.

Proposal “G” would have limited tethering, and as written would not have allowed for temporary tethering, even if the owner is with the dog.

Proposal “H” in part would have allowed any person to enter a vehicle to remove an animal they believe to be at risk.  Read AKC’s previous alert for more information on these proposals.

AKC understands amendments may be offered to Proposal “H” to address all concerns raised by the AKC and the Associated Dog Clubs of New York State.

We thank all those who took the time to contact the county and attend the public hearing.  Your voice is making a difference for dogs!

AKC GR and ADCNYS continue to closely monitor these proposals and will provide updates as they are available.
