Tomorrow, the City of Riverside’s Planning Commission will host a workshop to review and provide input on potential changes to the City’s ordinances regarding the keeping and sales of animals. Meeting details may be viewed here.
All sections of the Municipal Code related to the keeping and sales of animals may be discussed. No formal action will be taken at this event.
It has been reported to AKC that nearby Long Beach’s ordinances will serve as a model for the potential changes. Long Beach’s animal ordinances include mandatory spay/neuter and retail pet sales restrictions, both of which AKC strongly opposes.
It is important that local dog owners, fanciers, and breeders attend Thursday’s workshop to represent their interests. The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 9, at 9AM, at the Art Pick Council Chamber, 3900 Main Street, Riverside, CA 92522.
AKC Government Relations will provide additional information on possible changes to Riverside’s animal ordinance changes as information becomes available. For more information, contact AKC’s Government Relations at doglaw@akc.org.
