On Thursday, June 2, the Rhode Island Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a public hearing on multiple bills, including amended H.7021, which would allow emergency care and transportation for a police dog injured in the line of duty.  The bill was voted favorably by the Rhode Island House of Representatives on May 3, and includes the development of policies and procedures for the humane transportation of these special canines with training of personnel in basic-level first aid.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) values the contribution these working and detection dogs make, and the important role they play, in protecting the peace and security of individuals and communities.; and supports H.7021.
