The Oak Grove City Council will consider changes to the city’s animal ordinance at its regular city council meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at 6:00 p.m.  The meeting will be conducted by Zoom and on the City of Oak Grove Facebook page. The proposed ordinance could be subject to a first vote on Tuesday evening.  A second vote at a subsequent meeting would be required for enactment.

The final text of the proposed ordinance was not available at the time this legislative alert was released. Among other provisions, the proposal is anticipated to include enhanced vicious dog language, amended animal cruelty provisions, additional limits on tethering dogs, increased fees and penalties, and other changes.  When available, a copy of the proposed ordinance can be requested by emailing the City Clerk at comperrya@oakgroveky.org.

Residents of Oak Grove are urged to contact their elected officials for additional information about the proposed ordinance and to discuss the provisions it contains.
