The American Kennel Club’s Government Relations Department (AKC GR) has learned that East Amwell Township’s Township Committee did not advance a controversial animal ordinance proposal at its meeting last night.

AKC expressed deep concerns that several elements of the proposal raised issues of vagueness, were overbroad, or violated due process.  AKC thanks the many concerned animal owners who attended last night’s meeting in opposition, and to the Township Committee members who decided to not advance the proposal.  AKC GR would like to offer special thanks to Martha Feltenstein, Delegate of the American Tibetan Mastiff Association; Dr. Duane Butheris, Delegate of the Delaware Water Gap Kennel Club; and Barbara Reichman, Legislative Liaison for the Golden Retriever Club of America, for their successful advocacy efforts.

AKC GR will continue to provide information from East Amwell Township and localities throughout New Jersey on dog-related issues.  For more information, contact AKC GR at doglaw@akc.org.
