On Monday, February 08, New Jersey Senate Bill 63 was considered by the State Senate’s Economic Growth Committee. During the hearing, testimony was accepted by concerned citizens and interest groups from across the animal interest spectrum. In response, Committee Chairman Raymond Lesniak, the sponsor of SB 63, tabled further consideration of the bill until a future committee meeting. The committee’s next scheduled meeting is Thursday, March 3.
The American Kennel Club, along with the New Jersey Federation of Dog Clubs, continues to oppose SB 63 as introduced. AKC encourages all concerned breeders and owners to submit recommended amendments to SB 63 to Chairman Lesniak (please CC all committee members and aides with your recommendations).
