This week, committees in the New York Assembly and Senate approved bills that would provide further protections against dog breed discrimination in homeowners insurance policies.

Senate Bill 8315 is now pending a vote by the full Senate, and Assembly Bill 9284 could also be scheduled for a vote soon.

It is important for New York dog owners to contact their State Assemblyperson and State Senator today.  Ask them to vote “yes” on Assembly Bill 9284 and Senate Bill 8315, which further support responsible dog owners in New York when obtaining homeowners insurance, regardless of the breed of dog they choose to own.

Read AKC’s previous alert for more information on the bills, which are identical in the Assembly and Senate.
