New Hampshire House Bill 1309 seeks to reinstitute microchip-related requirements on animal shelters. Specifically, the bill requires animal shelter facilities to have a microchip scanner on premises, to maintain a file of recognized pet retrieval agencies, and to scan animals for microchips upon admission if their owners are not known. The American Kennel Club and the Dog Owners of the Granite State, our New Hampshire federation, both support HB 1309.
