The American Kennel Club has learned that the sponsor of Senate Bill 36, which sought to expand regulations regarding who may remove animals from vehicles, has heard the concerns voiced by many and has graciously agreed to amend the legislation.
The AKC thanks Sen. Simonaire for his willingness to carefully listen to the concerns of constituents and to work to protect their rights while also ensuring that animals are never kept in a vehicle under dangerous circumstances.
AKC also thanks the many club members and the Maryland Dog Federation for taking the time to communicate with the sponsor and the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. At this time, no further action or communication is needed by clubs. We will provide further updates on this legislation when they become available.
