The Kentucky Senate deferred action on Senate Bill 125 on Friday, so there is still time to call and send email messages to state senators asking them to “VOTE NO on SB 125.”  The Senate convenes again today at 4:00 p.m., and could vote on the bill this afternoon.

SB 125 seeks to create a troublesome cost of care and forfeiture law for animals confiscated because of an accusation of cruelty or neglect against an owner or caretaker.  Innocent owners unable to pay costs of care for their impounded animals throughout the trial period would lose ownership forever, even if charges are dropped or the accused person is found not guilty.  Click here to review the American Kennel Club’s previous action alert on why AKC opposes SB 125.

TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION:

Before 4:00 today, Monday, March 7, contact Kentucky state senators and respectfully urge them to VOTE NO on Senate Bill 125.

First, call 1-800-372-7181, provide your contact information, and the message: “Please oppose Senate Bill 125.”  Your message of opposition will be sent to Senate and House leadership.

Next, click here and select your county to identify your senator. (If you live in a county with a large population, more than one senator’s name will appear.)  Click on their name(s) for email address(es) to send messages to “Please vote no on Senate Bill 125.”
