The Illinois Senate Agriculture Committee is considering a bill on Thursday, May 27, that would limit pet stores to sourcing dogs and cats only from shelters and rescues that have no affiliation with breeders.

We are asking local clubs, club rescues, and dog owners to take a minute TODAY and submit an online witness slip to register your opposition to the committee.  Thousands of animal rights activists and supporters have already registered their support.  It is essential that the committee see the number of responsible dog owners, breeders, and AKC clubs and club rescues opposed to House Bill 1711.

Opposition may be submitted directly to the committee by completing an online witness slip at this link. Select the pencil icon next to HB 1711 and follow the online steps.  Comments are accepted through the end of the day on May 27; however, the AKC recommends that they be submitted prior to the meeting, which begins at 8:30 am on May 27.
