The City of Palm Springs has removed an item from tonight’s City Council’s meeting agenda regarding a proposed ordinance that would have banned all dog and cat breeding within the city limits. The City Clerk’s office and the City Manager’s office have both just confirmed to AKC Government Relations that the item has been pulled from consideration at this evening’s meeting.
AKC Government Relations thanks the many people who contacted the city to express their concerns with the proposed ordinance. Those emails and phone calls significantly influenced the city’s decision to remove the item from tonight’s meeting and do additional work before attempting to bring any ordinance back to city council.
AKC GR will continue to monitor the situation and offer to work with the Palm Springs City Council and City Manager and to develop plans to address their concerns over unethical and inhumane breeding without harming the good work done by ethical and responsible breeders.
