This hero K-9 has been recognized for his amazing service and dedication to his community. On Tuesday, August 9, Pako received a Medal of Valor at the Springfield Township Trustee meeting.

Pako, a member of the Springfield Township Police Department was shot by a suspect in June. After the suspect fled his car, Pako ran after him and was shot, reports WKRC. Pako's actions allowed police to apprehend the suspect.

After the incident, Pako was taken to the vet and treated. He returned to the job just a few weeks after he was shot and was fitted with a bullet resistant vest donated by the organization Vested Interest in K-9s.

Now, he has been recognized for his incredible bravery and determination in protecting his fellow officers.

“We're so proud of our police department. It really was an act of valor on the part of our police officer and Pako our K-9 to be able to arrest this suspect,” Joe Honerlaw, Chairman of the Springfield Township Board of Trustees told WKRC.
