NYPD helps a dog

Two police officers are being lauded for their efforts to help a Bronx family after their dog escaped last week.

Officers DeAngelis and DeBellis were on patrol at the Baychester Houses when a woman approached them and said that a car had struck her dog after he escaped during a walk, NYPD News reported.

Because the woman and her son had no way to transport the dog to the veterinarian, the officers drove them there. “I’m a huge animal lover. I really wanted to help,” Officer DeAngelis said.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, a fire chief transported a trio of puppies that had been found in a burning building to the veterinarian. Thanks to the department’s fast response two of the three puppies survived the blaze and were returned to their owners. Read that story here.
