In January, the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club hosted their first annual Story Telling Contest with the theme being “You Won’t Believe What My Dog Did!”. Entrants to this contest came from around Lehigh Valley to show their “tale to tell”. A judging panel read the contestants tale’s and, based on content, decide on semi-finalists. These semi-finalists then “told their tales” to a captive audience of judges, club members and invited guests to determine final places.
Grand Champion went to Maggie Mauro an 8th grader from Northwestern Lehigh Middle School. Zoe Weidman, 8th grader from Kutztown Middle School won Second Place in the Middle School Division. The other winners in the Middle School Division were Third Place winner Brandon Smeltz, 8th grader from the Northwestern Lehigh.
In the High School Division, First Place went to Christopher Hippensteel, 9th grader from Northwestern Lehigh SD; and from the Bethlehem Area School District were Second Place winner Josh Christiansen, 12th grader; Third Place winner Juliana Maffea, 11th grader and an Honorable Mention to Thomas J. Schaeffer, 11th grader.
The winners shared their tales at the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club’s Canine Learning Experience event on February 5th.
