What’s New from Government Relations April 2018

The midterm and primary elections are just around the corner! Do you know where your candidates stand on important dog-related issues? The American Kennel Club’s Government Relations department has created a whole arsenal of materials you can use to when working with your legislator and candidates. View our ‘Communicating Effectively with Your Legislators’ flyer and Candidate Survey, and make sure to check out our Election Guide, for a comprehensive list of actions you can take for the 2018 Primary and General Election.

At its April meeting, the American Kennel Club’s Board of Directors approved three new canine legislation position statements, which address the issues of tethering, pet imports, and dog training. AKC canine legislation position statements state AKC’s position on various legislative topics and serve as the foundation for AKC positions on legislation or other public policy initiatives that impact dogs.
You can read more about our tethering position, pet importation, and dog training in this issue.
