Hula Lula CAX owned by Susan Lewis of Wildomar, CA
Hula Lula is a mixed-breed that was adopted from a local shelter when she was about 3 months old. She was born at the shelter and came from a very large litter.
“She is a very sweet girl but shy,” Susan said. “I try to take her many places to help her with her shyness and taking her to coursing gets her used to being around people and dogs.“
Susan discovered coursing, in which dogs get to chase a lure pulled around a field by a pulley system, as a great outlet for Hula’s energy and also a great way to build her confidence.
“She loves to run and coursing is just perfect for her. Her first run she took off and never looked back.”
Hula Lula finished her AKC Coursing Ability Excellent (CAX) title for passing the test 25 times on Jan. 17, 2015. They plan to work on another CAX and also are competing in Barn Hunt – another great sport that releases dogs’ prey drive – at the intermediate level.
