MACH Sweet Skylar MXB MJS owned by Lynn Van Vleet of Rockford, IL
Skylar was 3 months old when Lynn brought her home. “She was a very happy and energetic puppy. I decided to take her to obedience classes and she achieved her AKC Canine Good Citizen award,” Lynn said. “I knew she had a lot more to offer so we started going to agility classes.”
Skylar ran in her first AKC trial in June of 2010.
“What a great time we were having and then in December of 2011, things came to a halt. Skylar suffered a back injury (not agility related). I wasn’t sure if she would ever do agility or even be able to jump again. She never gave up! After nine long months of rehabilitation and exercise, Skylar was back competing and having fun.”
Skylar finished the highest honor in AKC Agility – the Master Agility Championship – in May 2014 at the Glenbard All-Breed Obedience Club trial.
“After all she had been through, Skylar getting her MACH was one of the best days ever,” Lynn said.
Skylar competes in AKC Agility through the AKC Canine Partners program for all dogs, including mixed-breeds. For information, look here.
