Many dogs are friendly with cats and other small animals, but always proceed with caution when introducing your dog or puppy to a cat, rabbit, hamster or other small pet.
Keep them separated and in a protected space and let them observe each other from a distance for awhile.
Reward good behavior by your dog (being relaxed, not stalking, staring, growling or lunging).
If that stage is going well, leash your dog and take them in for a closer look. Again, reward good behavior around the other pet. Remove the dog immediately if they show any aggressive behavior.
Never leave a dog unsupervised with a smaller pet.
Hopefully, they will end up being best friends like George and Theodore!
