Wendy’s Ice Princess CAX RN – Wendy Brusso – Marion, NY

Six months after Wendy lost a beloved dog, Ice came into her life. “I stopped at a local shelter and found a 7-month-old quiet and scared pup. Now, 6 years later, Ice is confident and outgoing. Ice took to luring like a natural, getting faster with age.” Along with luring, Ice enjoys Rally and hanging out with her 2 “fur siblings.” Ice is a Dalmatian/Pit mix. She received her CAX title on Oct 30, 2016 at the Taconic Hills Kennel Club trial in Middletown, NY. CAX stands for Coursing Ability Excellent. It’s the highest title and to earn it a dog must make 25 passes of the test.

Coursing is modeled after the sport of lure coursing, and all breeds are eligible. Most dogs love to chase things, no matter what their heritage – so it’s a great activity for Canine Partners. It’s a pass/fail, non-competitive test in which the dog chases an artificial lure. Dogs run one at a time. To pass the test, a dog running alone must pursue a lure, completing the course enthusiastically and without interruption within a given time. Most dogs will happily go after the lure!
