The Road to Orlando: All-American Dogs at AKC Junior Agility Competition
The AKC Junior Agility Competition will be held Dec. 15 as part of the AKC Agility Invitational in Orlando, FL. Young people get the opportunity to compete with their dogs in a national setting. We will be spotlighting youth who are competing with All-American Dogs in the AKC Canine Partners program in weeks leading up the big events.
Name: Lightning
Age: 4 ½ years
Gender: Male
Junior Handler: Breyon Gunn, age 14
Hometown: Andover, MN
Breyon says: “Lightning, who is 4 ½ years old and a Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel mix, has been doing agility with me for over two years. When we first attended puppy kindergarten, I saw other people training in the gym for agility competitions, and I wanted to do the same thing. Since then, I’ve been training and competing in AKC agility events in Minnesota and Florida. Currently, I’m trying to get my last leg in Excellent to advance to the Masters level. Lightning is fun to train whether at home or in the gym and is very receptive to my cues.”
