Keeper loved playing with his ball in the beautiful creeks of Glen Highland Farm in upstate New York.

The Border Collie – Samoyed mix spent a vacation with his owner Jean Cruise at the farm. Glen Highland is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue of abandoned and unwanted Border Collies and Border Collie-mixes.

The farm offers the annual Canine Country Getaway from Memorial Day weekend through September to help fund its rescue operation. Campers can let their dogs run off leash on the 175 fenced-in acres, enjoying fields, trails, meadows, streams and ponds.

Keeper was a rescue from Kuwait and was enroute to Glen Highland Farm before Jean met him and made him a permanent member of her family in Lakeville, MA. Glen Highland has adopted out more than 2,500 dogs. Since many of them have been neglected or abused, the staff evaluates them, provides medical care, spaying/neutering, and social rehabilitation.

Jean said she will never forget their vacation at this special place and she and Keeper hope to make it an annual trip.

“We hiked every day to a new area on well-groomed trails through meadows and forests. We bravely crossed the suspension bridge, made new friends and reconnected with old friends. Keeper also swam every day, brushed up on agility, played with his four-legged friends, and had endless fetch games with anyone willing to throw the ball. The time passed too quickly and I think I left a part of my heart somewhere there.”

Keeper is a member of the AKC Canine Partners program for all dogs, including rescues and mixes.
