The Nutmeg German Shorthaired Pointer Club

The Dr. John Flaherty Field Trial area was the venue for the Nutmeg German Shorthaired Pointer Clubs fall hunt test. These grounds are used by a number of Pointing breed clubs located in the New England states and present a very challenging course for those that enter events their.

Nine of the various pointing breeds were represented at the event and had a total of 38 dogs entered in the Saturday event and 40 entered in the Sunday event. The Saturday event had very challenging weather for both the dogs, handlers and gunning team with temperatures in the 30’s and very strong and gusting winds the entire day. Sundays event had a moderation to the weather with temps much milder and a lighter wind.

Bird finding was very good on both days as many dogs encountered several coveys of wild birds, these coveys made for some very difficult situations for many dogs.

Event Chairperson Janet McMillan Zwirko and her entire event committee did a great job with their event and all in attendance had a very good time.
