Your 2009 Agility Advisory Committee
Updated: September 25, 2009
Time 2 Beat (T2B)
Time 2 Beat is a new agility class recommended by the 2009 AKC Agility Advisory Committee. At this time, AKC is researching this proposed class and asking clubs to host demonstrations in conjunction with their upcoming 2009-2010 trial weekends.
Time 2 Beat is a "hybrid" class built primarily from obstacles from Jumpers With Weaves, with the option of having one to two contacts included on the course. This class is unique, as each dog has the chance to set the "Time to Beat" for each jump height division. This is different than the current AKC classes (Standard and JWW) where the Standard Course Time (SCT) is set by the course yardage as wheeled by the judge.
To host a Time 2 Beat demonstration, please complete a Special Attractions form from the AKC website on the Downloadable Forms page and return the form by fax to John Brading, Event Operations Manager, at 919/816-4210.
For more information, please download the PDF file from the link below and/or view the T2B video file.
Time 2 Beat (T2B) Description – PDF
After the Special Attraction has been approved, a package of Time 2 Beat material will be sent to the club electronically. This will include an Excel spreadsheet that contains a scribe sheet template, plus the spreadsheet provides the ability to score the class electronically. The club is asked to collect scoring data and return the data to AKC for analysis.
Judges who are asked to design a Time 2 Beat course should contact Steve Herwig, Agility Field Rep, at smh@akc.org. Exhibitor comments about Time 2 Beat should be sent to AgilityAdv@akc.org.
Thank you,
Andy Hartman

Thank you for the feedback you provided the 2009 AKC Agility Advisory Committee (AAC) prior to the June meeting. While it is not possible to respond personally to each email that we receive regarding the Committee's recommendations, please be assured that all input will be shared with the Committee. We appreciate your interest in our sport and the time you have taken to help shape the future of the AKC agility program.
By clicking on the link below you will see part one of the recommendations coming forward from the AAC that will be presented to the AKC Board of Directors for their review process. While these are the majority of the recommendations, we are still working out the details on others. There will be more recommendations soon and we will post those to the website sometime in October. These recommendations are just that, recommendations, and are not new regulations until they have been reviewed and approved by the AKC Board of Directors.
AKC Agility Advisory Committee Recommendations – Part 1
Any feedback you have should be directed to AgilityADV@akc.org no later than September 18, 2009 and should include all text that you are referring to from the recommendation document.
Sincerely,
Andy Hartman
