Become an Evaluator

If you’ve fallen in love with the CGC program and want to help other dog owners experience what it’s like to have a blossoming, positive relationship with their dog, you’re in the right place.

To become an AKC CGC Approved Evaluator, you need to meet a few basic qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Have at least 2 years of experience working with owners and their dogs
  • Have experience working with a variety of breeds and sizes of dogs
  • Must not be currently suspended from AKC privileges

If you meet the basic qualifications, you can submit the AKC CGC Approved Evaluator application and $110 application fee. If you have any questions on the application, drop us a note at cgc@akc.org.

Once your application is approved, you will receive your AKC CGC Approved Evaluator packet! It will include:

  • An Approved Evaluator certificate
  • A personalized wallet card
  • Monthly CGC Approved Evaluator eNewsletters

As an Approved Evaluator, your certificate is valid for a two-year period. At the end of two years, you’ll need to complete a short renewal application.
