In the anticipation of Hurricane Irma, many dog owners are evacuating and finding shelter in other places across the United States. If you plan on flying with your dog, you need to make sure you know the policies, which differ depending on the airline.

It’s important to plan ahead and familiarize yourself with your airline’s rules and regulations, so that you don’t encounter issues when you get to the airport.

Unfortunately, requirements for pet travel vary widely across domestic airlines and may change with no prior notice. You should check with the specific airline for their pet travel requirements, restrictions, health certificate information, quarantine requirements (if any), fees, and other information. Here are the links to some common U.S. domestic airlines pet travel policies as they are currently posted*:

Alaska Airlines

Allegiant Air

American Airlines

Delta Airlines

Frontier Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines

JetBlue Airlines
