The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to take action on a problematic litter permitting and pet transfer ordinance at its meeting tomorrow (Tuesday morning, October 8, 2024). This ordinance would apply to and require the payment of fees by every county resident who, in the future, may have reason to give away, sell, or otherwise transfer a dog or cat.
It is important for commissioners to hear from constituents with concerns about this vague and overreaching proposal. Act NOW to contact your county commissioners prior to their meeting on Tuesday morning. Politely ask them to VOTE NO on the proposed animal ordinance.

Attend the meeting on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 9:00am to state your concerns and respectfully request a NO VOTE on the proposed animal ordinance. Ask that county commissioners meet with responsible dog owners and breeders prior to drafting any alternate proposal so that it will be fair, clear, enforceable, compliant with state and federal law, and will effectively address the needs of the community.
