House Bill 2238 was heard yesterday in the House Licensing and Administrative Procedures Committee. The bill was left pending in the committee for now, but it could still be scheduled for a vote in the coming weeks, so it is necessary to continue contacting the committee. AKC outreach efforts were successful as the sponsor State Representative Brad Buckley received many calls in opposition to HB 2238. As a result, the sponsor has agreed to meet with AKC to discuss our concerns with the bill and we greatly appreciate his willingness to work with us. Currently, there is no need to continue to contact the sponsor’s office in opposition to this legislation.

There is still a chance this bill could be called for a vote as currently written so it is important to continue to contact the committee chair to urge him not to call a vote on HB 2238 and to contact the other committee members to urge them to oppose the bill as currently written.
