The voices of Tennessee dog owners were heard! The sponsor of House Bill 2938 has taken this problematic dog breeder bill “off notice” in committee. That means HB 2938 and companion Senate Bill 2513, which seek to license and regulate dog and cat breeders in the state, are unlikely to advance. Read concerns with these bills.
In other committee action, SB 2513 was reassigned to the General Subcommittee of Senate Commerce and Labor Committee.
The American Kennel Club Government Relations Department (AKC GR) will continue to monitor these bills through the end of Tennessee’s 2024 legislative session, currently scheduled to adjourn on April 25.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Please take a moment to email a brief message of thanks to Representative Ron Travis, sponsor of HB 2938, for understanding and responding to the concerns of responsible Tennessee dog owners.
