A proposed ordinance that would have lifted restrictions on ownership of “pit bull” dogs in Sherwood, Arkansas, has been withdrawn. As a result of this action, Sherwood’s animal ordinance continues to prohibit the ownership of:

  1. Pit Bull Terriers
  2. Staffordshire Bull Terriers
  3. American Pit Bull Terriers
  4. American Staffordshire Terriers
  5. American Bull Dogs
  6. Mixed breed dogs with similar appearance and characteristics that display aggression towards people or other dogs.

Sherwood residents are urged to continue asking their city council members to enact breed-neutral dangerous dog laws. Click here for resources, analyses, and talking points on Breed Specific/Dangerous Dog Laws. Click here to view AKC’s July alert on the original Sherwood proposal.
