On Tuesday, April 8, the Senate Natural Resources and Wildfire Committee voted to advance SB 1076 and referred it to the Joint Committee on Ways and Means Subcommittee on Natural Resources.
The AKC thanks all the Oregonians who showed up to the State Capitol for the hearings and have been active in communicating your concerns and opposition to lawmakers on SB 1076. We strongly encourage you to now contact the Joint Committee and continue to express your concerns.
Consider the following talking points:
- Oregon already has robust regulations on dog breeders as defined in law, and cruelty laws that apply to all who own dogs in the state.
- Senate Bill 1076 would create confusion and an additional burden for responsible Oregonians already in compliance with existing law
- SB 1076 could potentially require someone who breeds and sells one dog to be licensed and subject to home inspections.
Read AKC’s previous alert for more information on this bill.
