On Wednesday, February 18, a Hawaii Senate Committee advanced Senate Bill 2710. This bill seeks to define a dog breeder, set care and conditions for dog breeders, assess regular fees through a licensing system, limit accepted dog breeding practices, and cap total number of dogs allowed to be owned.
The bill was heavily amended, reflecting some American Kennel Club (AKC) suggestions, and AKC is closely reviewing the new bill text. The AKC thanks all who made their voices heard on this bill and the many others affecting dog owners that have been heard so far in this busy session!
