On Tuesday, March 21, the Assembly Public Safety Committee advanced Assembly Bill 742, limiting the use of police canines. The bill has now been referred to the Assembly Appropriations Committee; however, no hearing has been scheduled yet.
The author of the proposal, Assemblymember Corey Jackson (Dist. 60), is working with stakeholders on possible amendments to the bill to ensure the safety of all Californians. No action is needed at this time.
