The top 10 owner-handled dogs from each breed came to compete at the AKC National Owner-Handled Series Finals on December 14, 2019. The 791 competitors entered represented 199 breeds and marked the highest entry in the competition’s history.
After intense competition at the AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin, the NOHS Best in Show honors went to GCHS CH Baha Pyramid Scheme BN JC NAJ BCAT CGC TKA, a Saluki known as “Ponzi” owned, handled, and bred by Dr. Caroline Coile.
“The AKC National Owner-Handled Series Finals is a wonderful celebration of the skill and dedication of each owner-handler,” says Heidi Spaeth, Manager, Dog Show Rules & Programs. “We’d like to thank all of the competitors and congratulate all those who qualified. After winning their Best of Breed competitions, the following top dogs went on to win in their respective groups and compete for AKC National Owner-Handled Series Best in Show:
Sporting: GCHB CH Rainsway & Cajun’s Reese’s Pieces, a Clumber Spaniel known as “Reese’s” owned and bred by Raina Moss, Darcy Moss, Peggy Holman and Milford Cole of Battle Ground, WA.
Hound: GCHS CH Baha Pyramid Scheme BN JC NAJ BCAT CGC TKA, a Saluki known as “Ponzi” owned and bred by Dr. Caroline Coile of Live Oak, FL.
Working: GCHP CH Torrid Zone Smoke From A Distant Fire BN RN CGCA CGCU TKN, a Portuguese Water Dog known as “Blaze” owned by Beth Mercier and Margaret De Fore of St. Marys, GA and bred by Margaret De Fore.
Terrier: GCH CH Rosemontgoodspice Ez Spellstrouble Onthe Freerange, a Sealyham Terrier known as “Maisie” owned by Barbara Monteleone of Sparta, N.J. and bred by June Cohron D.V.M., Margery L. Good, and France Bergeron.
Toy: GCHG CH Pomhaven’s Chase The Dream, a Pomeranian known as “Chase” owned by Elias Mada of Heber, CA and bred by Colleen Beland.
Non-Sporting: GCHG CH Anana’s Rhinestone Cowboy FDC CA CGCA TKN, an American Eskimo Dog known as “Stetson” owned by Susan & Larry Caltrider and Stephanie Strunk of Clinton Township, MI and bred by Stephanie Paulsen, Kathleen Strunk, and Bonnie M. Hammond Brown.
Herding: CH Majestique N’The News, a Briard known as “Herald” owned by Delores Dement, Madelyn Warcholik, and Jeffery Deaver of Jefferson, NC and bred by Madelyn Warcholik, Jeffery Deaver, and Lisa Sarvas.
