2017 National Championship Group Winners Day 1

It’s been an exciting weekend so far at the AKC National Championship. The competition is only heating up as the big prize, Best in Show will be decided Sunday, Dec. 17. Check out the results from Saturday’s group winners, who will compete for the coveted title.

Group Winners from Saturday, Dec. 16

After winning Best of Breed competitions, the following top dogs went on to win in their respective groups and will compete for Best in Show:

Sporting: GCHP CH Silverhall Strike Force, a Cocker Spaniel (ASCOB) known as “Striker,” owned by Regina Beinhauer & Carolee Douglas and bred by Wilson S Pike & Bonnie S Pike.

Hound: GCHB CH Pahlavi Marilyn Merlot, an Afghan Hound known as “Chelsea,” owned by Dr. Patrick Truman & Jeff Bracken & Karen Wagner and bred by Karen Wagner & Ellen C Klosson.

Toy: GCHG CH Pequest Pickwick, a Pekingese known as “Chuck,” owned by David Fitzpatrick & Nancy H Shapland and bred by David Fitzpatrick.

Non-Sporting: GCHG CH Le Petit Prince De La Bete, a French Bulldog known as “Princeton,” owned by Alexandra Geremia & Blake Hamman & Peter Photos and bred by Peter Photos & Blake Hamman.

The Working, Terrier, and Herding groups will be judged Sunday, Dec. 17. and join the above winners in the show ring to compete for the ultimate prize—Best in Show. Tune in to the livestream, starting at 5 pm, on AKC.org.
