CT, Meriden – AKC and the Connecticut Federation of Dog Clubs and Responsible Dog Owners met with legal counsel for the city to request practical changes to recently released breeder and litter permit application forms. The city’s ordinance is likely to be updated to reflect changes to state law and AKC has begun meetings with the city’s legal counsel and animal control director to offer recommended changes.
NJ, Ashbury Park – Asbury Park recently passed a new law to prohibit all dog breeding in the city, with no exceptions. Media reports have indicated that similar ordinances will be proposed in other New Jersey communities. AKC GR issued an alert providing information on how Asbury Park residents can contact their council to request amendments, and also guidelines for New Jersey club members to take action to prevent similar laws in their communities.
