The Rozzis rescued Rio in November of 2021 and at the time, they knew nothing about dog performance sports. They began private lessons with their dog trainer, John Krasich, shortly after getting Rio. “Starting those lessons turned out to be the best decision ever,” Mariana said. “We not only gained an amazing friend for life, but so far, we have tried multiple sports like Scent Work, Tracking, Agility, Dock Diving, Rally, Herding, Barn Hunt, Fast CAT, and CAT.”
When they first began taking lessons, Mariana had no intention of ever entering a trial. She was just looking to learn about all the different sports available and to have fun with her dog. “Rio has been such a good sport and is always willing to try new things,” she said. Since 2023, he has earned multiple titles – CGC, TKN, TKI, FCAT, CA, SWM, TD – and they have truly enjoyed their journey together. “I couldn’t have asked for a better dog. He is my whole life, and I am so grateful to have him by my side.”
Rio’s favorite sports are Scent Work and Tracking, but he also enjoys Agility and Dock Diving. Outside of sports, Rio loves being outdoors and going hiking. “Training him is an absolute blast. He has the sweetest personality and is just the best boy.”
