Luce Carter BN RE FDC ACT1 SWN SINE SENE SBNE SEA CGCA TKE FITB owned by Jennifer Carter of Louisa, VA
Luce, a 9 ½ year old hound/herding dog mix, was 12 weeks old when she was adopted by Jennifer. “Her journey is one of resilience and determination,” Jennifer said. “Luce is the kind of dog who leaves an impression long after she’s passed by — confident, capable, and full of heart. Adventurous by nature and athletic to her core, she thrives on movement, challenge, and connection. Whether she’s running, exploring new terrain, or learning a new trick, Luce approaches life with enthusiasm and purpose.”
Smart and highly intuitive, Luce is a quick learner who enjoys having a job to do. She is driven, focused, and engaged, and balances that intensity with a deeply sweet and affectionate side. She has enjoyed success in Obedience, Rally, and Scent Work. But during recovery from a full CCL tear, meniscal tear and pulled iliopsoas, she needed something to do that was less physically demanding. Trick training was the perfect sport that helped keep her mind positive and on April 11, 2025, she earned the TKE – Trick Dog Performer Elite title.
Luce isn’t just an exceptional dog; she’s a reminder of what dogs teach us every day: to show up fully, trust the process, and keep moving forward, no matter what the obstacle. Through her actions and attitude, Luce continues to inspire those who meet her, embodying resilience, joy, and the powerful bond between dogs and the humans who believe in them.
She participated in the 2025 AKC Trick Dog National Virtual Competition and earned a qualifying performance and senior outstanding performance.
