The FCM Universal Championship AKC International Dog Shows 2026 mark a historic milestone for the sport of dogs. Licensed by the American Kennel Club® (AKC) and hosted by the Federación Canófila Mexicana (FCM), this four-day international event will unite breeders, exhibitors, handlers, and dog enthusiasts from across the Americas and around the world.
This will be the first AKC-licensed all-breed conformation shows ever held in Mexico, celebrating global collaboration, shared standards of excellence, and the future of international dog sports.

The following AKC regulations will apply to all AKC-licensed events held at the FCM Universal Championship:
All judging, competition formats, and awards for AKC-recognized breeds will follow AKC policies and procedures as approved by the AKC Board.

What are the requirements for bringing U.S. dogs into Mexico?

Dogs must have a health certificate issued by a USDA-accredited veterinarian.
They must be checked in with SENASICA at the border or airport.
A valid rabies vaccination certificate is required.
Proof of ownership must be presented.
Internal and external dewormed, within the six previous months and are free of ectoparasites

Will a screwworm certification be required for re-entry into the U.S.?

How will tariffs be managed when crossing the border?

Currently, neither you nor the dogs you are bringing into the country are subject to tariffs. However, any tangible goods you purchase may be subject to applicable tariffs.

When and where will the show take place?

The show will be held at the Santa Fe Expo Center in Mexico City, Mexico, from November 12–15, 2026.

What is the point schedule?

Effective May 2026, points towards AKC titles will be calculated by the points schedule associated with Division 12.

Is this event a joint collaboration?

These shows are the result of an agreement between the AKC and FCM, granting FCM the license to hold AKC shows in Mexico.

Will this be a standard AKC show with the usual AKC classes?

Yes. The AKC-licensed show will follow the same format as AKC Shows in the United States.

What will be offered at the event?

The following AKC-licensed events will be offered each day of the four-day cluster:
- AKC All-Breed Conformation Shows
- AKC Junior Showmanship
These events will mirror the structure and format of AKC all-breed shows held domestically, including:
- AKC recognized breeds from all seven groups
- Group Competition
- Best in Show/Reserve Best in Show
- Dogs competing may earn AKC Championship or AKC Grand Championship points
FCM will host a special attraction show for Foundation Stock Service (FSS), Miscellaneous, and non-AKC recognized breeds.

How will Foundation Stock Service (FSS) and Miscellaneous breeds be handled?

For this inaugural event, Foundation Stock Service (FSS) and Miscellaneous breeds will participate in a FCM special attraction show rather than an open show.

How will breeds not recognized by the AKC be addressed?
+
All breeds are welcome to participate in the Universal shows. FCM will host a special attraction show each day of the cluster specifically for breeds not recognized by the AKC. Foundation Service Stock (FSS) and Miscellaneous breeds will also participate in the FCM special attraction show.

Will dogs be eligible to earn AKC & FCM points/titles?

Dogs competing at the AKC-licensed show can earn points toward their AKC Championship or Grand Championship titles, just as they would at any AKC-sanctioned all-breed event. The FCM will also present exclusive titles specific to these international shows.

Can a dog compete in an AKC-licensed show without being AKC registered?

Will the judges be AKC-approved?

All judges selected by FCM for the AKC-licensed show must be AKC approved judges or a foreign judge eligible to judge AKC events pursuant to AKC Board policy.

Which breed standards will be applied?

Judging at the AKC-licensed show will be in accordance with AKC approved breed standards as this is an AKC show hosted by FCM. Judging at the FCM special attraction show will be in accordance with the FCI breed standards.
