
The AKC Patch Program, launched in 2016, is an interactive scavenger hunt designed to be hosted at a dog show and to teach children ages 5-18 about purebred dogs and the sport of purebred dogs. As we are stay home during the COVID-19 crisis, AKC Public Education has introduced the AKC Virtual Patch Program.

How it Works

1. The AKC Virtual Patch Program packet can be downloaded here. All links are included in the packet. We have a version for exceptional learners here.2. Your child/student can complete the packet online or in printed form. They will need access to a computer or tablet with internet access.
3. Once you are finished, complete the quiz to show what you learned and then print your patch!

Would you like to learn more about dog sports? Junior Showmanship offers children between the ages of 9 and under 18 years of age an opportunity to develop their handling skills, learn about good sportsmanship, dogs, and dog shows. Juniors are judged on their ability to present, or handle, their dogs as they would in the breed ring.

Juniors may also compete and earn titles on their dogs in many AKC Events. The Junior Recognition program awards points for participation in all AKC events and additional points for earning qualifying scores or placements. Learn about Obedience, Agility, Rally, Tracking, Hunt Tests, Herding, Field Trials, Earthdog, Lure Coursing, Coursing Ability and Coonhound Events in which all juniors are eligible to compete.
