The American Kennel Club announced today the appointment of Russell Raman to the newly created Director of Marketing position. Raman who has significant experience in corporate marketing and brand-building, will be responsible for developing marketing programs and strategies that raise brand awareness, increase registration and create new revenue streams for the AKC.

Most recently Raman was employed at Corbis Corporation, the global stock photography company owned by Bill Gates, as Director of Market Strategy. Previously, he worked to boost the circulation, readership and ad revenue of four trade publications at Disney's Fairchild Publications.

Raman's business-to-business expertise was honed at Deloitte & Touche where he built the first full-service marketing department in the firm's history. He gained

advertising experience via his stint at Saatchi & Saatchi, where as an account supervisor he led the development of creative strategy and corporate identity for various clients. Raman began his career working for an array of consumer products companies such as Lever Brothers, Warner Lambert and National Distillers Products Company.

 

Raman received an MBA from Columbia University and a BA from Colgate University. He resides in Manhattan with his West Highland White Terrier, is an amateur competitive horseback rider, and an avid traveler and photographer.
