The American Kennel Club® is pleased to announce the promotion of Doug Ljungren to Assistant Vice President of Performance Events. Doug joined the AKC as Director of Performance Events in March 2007. He has been responsible for all facets of AKC Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Herding, Lure Coursing and Earthdog Events since taking over for retiring Vice President for Performance, Bill Speck, in September 2007.

“We are extremely pleased to award Doug this promotion,” said AKC Chief Operating Officer John Lyons. “His professional experience and years in the sport have been an asset to the department and we look forward to the continuing growth of Performance Events under his leadership.”

Doug has participated in the sport of purebred dogs for over 30 years as both a breeder/owner of German Wirehaired Pointers and as a judge. He and his GWPs have taken part in field trialing, conformation, obedience and hunting tests. A member of the German Wirehaired Pointer Club of America, Doug has served as the National Field Trial Chairman of the GWPCA three times.
