– Breeders Honored at AKC/Eukanuba National Championship –
New York, NY — Gwen DeMilta and Carissa DeMilta Shimpeno were presented with the 2014 AKC Breeder of the Year Award for their Alisaton Doberman Pinschers at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship on Sunday, December 14, 2014. The annual award honors those breeders who have made an impact on their breed and dedicated their lives to improving the health, temperament and quality of purebred dogs.
“It is a privilege to present Gwen and Carissa with this award,” said Michael Canalizo, AKC’s Director of Event Management. “The success they have enjoyed with their Alisaton Dobermans has been the result of much hard work and we appreciate their dedication to the sport of purebred dogs.”
Every fall, honorees are announced from each of the seven groups: Sporting, Hound, Working, Terrier, Toy, Non-Sporting, and Herding. From those seven, one Group winner is selected as “AKC Breeder of the Year” during the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.
As the 2014 AKC Breeder of the Year recipients, Gwen and Carissa will be honored with a commission from a canine portraitist to memorialize a prominent dog from their kennel and their names will be inscribed on a perpetual trophy, both of which will be displayed at the AKC headquarters in New York City.
About Alisaton Doberman Pinschers
Joann Satalino, Gwen's mother and Carissa's grandmother, purchased the family's first Doberman in 1968 and their first litter was bred in 1972. Gwen showed a dog from this litter to Winners Bitch and Best of Winners from the Bred-by-Exhibitor class at the Doberman Pinscher Club of America's 1973 National Specialty.
To date, 166 champions carry the Alisaton name. Alisaton Dobermans has bred numerous generations of Register of Merit (ROM) dogs that have launched many breeding programs and are behind some of today’s top producers. Alisaton dogs have won all-breed and specialty Bests in Show, Doberman Pinscher Club of America (DPCA) National Specialties, Top 20 in Conformation and Obedience, numerous DPCA Winners Dog and Winners Bitch awards, Grand Prize Futurities and a Westminster Kennel Club Group First.
