Mr. Sprung was also awarded a PET AGE ICON Award for 2020

The American Kennel Club would like to congratulate its President and CEO Dennis Sprung on being named a Lifetime Member of the Afghan Hound Club of America, Inc. and for earlier this month being awarded the Pet Age 2020 ICON Award.

“It is a significant honor to receive this level of membership from the Afghan Hound Club of America, Inc.,” said Sprung.  “I take deep pride in my AKC career, my love and loyalty for the Afghan breed and commitment to their preservation.”

The Afghan was recognized in 1926 and the Parent Club became a member in 1940.  Dennis acquired his first Afghan in 1968.  Prior to his employment at AKC it was one of the breeds he judged.

“We are delighted to have Dennis named as a Lifetime Member of the Afghan Hound Club of America, Inc.,” said Helen Stein, President of the AHCA. We are so proud of him and everything he has done for the breed and the sport of dogs.”

Sprung began his AHCA membership in 1988 and also belongs to the Greyhound Club of America since 1979 and joined Bronx County Kennel Club in 1968, serving as President, Delegate and Cluster Chair.  He is also a member of The Kennel Club (UK).

The Pet Age ICON awards recognize industry professionals who have shown a long-term commitment to the success of the pet industry based on experience, integrity and leadership.  Honorees have at least 20+ years of accomplishments in the field.

Dennis stated “AKC has been a monumental part of my life and I thank our constituency, the Board and Staff for their continued support.”
