The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization, the world’s largest purebred dog registry and leading advocate for dogs, is pleased to announce the launch of the National Owner-Handled (NOHS) Regional events this Fall.

The timing for this pilot program aligns with the 2025 AKC NOHS Finals qualifying period – September 2024 to September 2025.  These regional gatherings will be structured like the NOHS Finals in Orlando, except it will be open to all owner-handlers that are qualified to compete in NOHS.   Winning entries will receive double the NOHS qualifying points towards the 2025 NOHS Finals in Orlando.

NOHS Regional Events

  • South Central: Arapahoe Kennel Club, Colorado – September 2024
  • Southwest Region: Del Valle Dog Club of Livermore, California – October 2024
  • Plains Region: Tri-State Kennel Club, Missouri – November 2024
  • Southeast Region: Lakeland Winter Haven Kennel Club, Florida – February 2025

“The NOHS Regionals are meant to celebrate the dedication and enthusiasm of owner-handlers and to showcase the quality dogs they are exhibiting”, said Doug Ljungren, EVP for Sports & Events.  “Many clubs submitted proposals.  The AKC appreciates the interest of each of the clubs that expressed support for the NOHS program.”

NOHS exhibitors interested in participating in these special events should mark their calendars and stay tuned for additional information from the host clubs.
